Q: What type of bike should I bring?

 

A: The course is designed for gravel bikes which typically utilize 38mm + gravel tires. This event is set up as a “ride what you bring event” so depending on your ability you can ride a gravel bike, mountain bike or Fat tire bike. Typical road bikes would not work to well on the course as it consists of Gravel, Dirt, grass and very little pavement.

Q: Is the Cycledelic Course available on line?

​

A: Yes, The Cycledelic Course is on Garmin Connect and is also a Segment on Strava

 

Q: Will there be camping allowed?

 

A: Yes, Tent Camping is included with your event registration. If you prefer RV Camping with electrical hook ups a limited number of sites are available for a $25 fee. Both indoor and Port-a-potty facilities will be provided all week end.

 

Q: Where is Chillicothe, Illinois?

 

A: The event location is at Three Sisters Park 17189 IL-29, Chillicothe, IL 61523 Chillicothe is located about 12 miles north of Peoria Illinois on state highway 29 and 36 mile South of I-80 via State Highway 29.  Here is a Pindrop.

 

Q: Should I bring my own food?

 

A: You are welcome to bring your own food. On Course nutrition will be available including snacks, water and sports drinks. Concessions will be available onsite with a lunch/dinner menu on Saturday and a breakfast/lunch menu available Sunday.  

  • Lunch and Dinner Menu - Cheese Burgers, Hamburgers Hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, Nachos​ and fruit

  • Breakfast Menu - Breakfast Bowls, Biscuits n Gravy, Pancakes and Fruit

  • Beverage including soft drinks and limited Bar service provided by Three sisters Park (due to park regulations, no outside alcohol is allowed on site)

 

Q: Can I Bring Alcohol?

 

A: No, Due to Illinois Liquor License laws, the only alcohol allowed on the property is that provided by Three Sisters Park. They will have multiple refreshment stands including Alcohol and soft drinks.

 

Q: Are Volunteers needed? My Spouse/Friend is participating but I am not and am willing to help.

 

A: Yes! We have several volunteer opportunities so please contact us via email at cycledelic24@gmail.com

 

Q: Are Bathrooms/Showers Available?

 

A: Yes, There will be several In-house Bathrooms with running water but also Several Port-a-pottys available throughout the venue. No showers are available on site. 

 

Q: Is the course closed to traffic?

 

A: Yes, The course is located in a privately owned park and will be closed for the event. Most parking will be located outside of the course so with exception of an occasional service vehicle at a limited entrance. The course will be traffic free. Occasional service vehicle, emergency vehicle and pedestrian crossings will be allowed and directed by course stewards throughout the event. Whenever possible, this traffic will be directed in a way to minimize event interruption.

 

Q: Can I participate in this event with my kids?

 

A: Yes, you can participate idividually with or create a team to include your children as long as all participants are 14 years or older.

 

Q: Will this event happen Rain or Shine?

 

A: Yes, the course sheds and absorbs water pretty efficiently. Most endurance gravel events are typically rain or shine. In the case of lightning there will be access to shelter and the event can be paused temporarily if it needs to be.

 

Q: Do I have to have a Team?

 

A: No, you can participate in this endurance challenge either individually or as a relay team. There are 2 duration options, 6 hour and 24 hour. Team size for the 6 hour is limited to up to 3 team mates while the 24 hour event team size is limited to up to 12 team mates.

 

Q: Can friends and Family come watch?

 

A: Yes! Spectators can come watch and will be allowed in limited designated areas inside the venue. Spectators will not be allowed on the course during the event hours.

 

Q: What Restaurants are in Chillicothe?

 

A: We have several traditional and fast food restaurants including a Krogers Grocery Store less than a block from Three Sisters Park. Some of the restaurants include Hardees, McDonalds, Subway, Casey’s General Store for fast food. Others include Grecian Garden, Castaways, Molly’s Pizzaria, Nat’s Place

 

Q: Will there be bike repair staff on hand during the event?

 

A: Yes, We have partnered with local bike shops to provide services during the event. Hours of availability should be around the clock but they will be riding as well so they may not be available at all times. We will have a self-serve work area available during the entire event both on and off course.

Q: Will the Course be lit up?

​

A: Some areas of the course will be lit up in various ways but all riders should rely on and be equipped with either a helmet or handlebar mounted head light during dark hours. Charging stations will be available near the transition area.
